S’mores French Toast with Marshmallow Syrup

S'mores French Toast with Marshmallow Syrup

Is it a sad thing that I don’t make breakfast for my family? I mean I don’t starve them, I ask them what they want and it’s usually cereal or oatmeal or a pop tart. But rarely do I make a big breakfast unless it’s on the weekend. I’m not sure if it’s my lack of being a huge breakfast person or if I’m just too lazy to make something that early in the morning. But when I do make breakfast, I usually try to go all out and make something big or different.

I think this fit the bill for being something different. You see all these places like IHOP or Perkins having all these nummy looking french toasts and they seem so mouth-watering. I wish I could get my food to look half as good as theirs appear on their commercials, but let’s face it, my food is meant to be eaten and I’m not a food stylist. But still, can you imagine!

I had some Nutella that was begging to be used and just so happened to have a container of already crushed up graham crackers. Also given that my kids are counting down the days until we go up to the lake camping I thought that I’ll create something that will mimic that for them! Behold, S’mores French Toast.

Serving Size – 3

6 slices Texas toast
3 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Sprinkle of cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

Marshmallow Syrup:
1 (7 oz) jar marshmallow creme
2 Tbs. boiling water
1 tsp vanilla

Pre-heat skillet or griddle to medium-high heat. Mix together the eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla. In shallow dish dump your graham cracker crumbs. Dredge each side of bread in the egg mixture then coat in the graham cracker crumbs. Fry in skillet, once you flip over to fry the other side of the toast spread Nutella on 3 of the pieces. Meanwhile as the other side cooks, prepare your syrup. To make, spoon marshmallow creme into bowl. Boil a little bit of water ( I put 2 Tbs in a small dip bowl and microwaved it for about 1 minute) and pour 2 Tbs over the top of the creme. Stir in vanilla and set aside. When toast is done remove to plate and top each with the remaining 3 pieces of toast. Drizzle with marshmallow syrup and enjoy!
